Studi Karakteristik Habitat dan Biologi Katak Serasah Leptobrachium hasselti Tschudi 1838 di Situ Gunung, Sukabumi
Abstract
Increasing development has caused the deterioration of amphibian habitat, including that of the leaf litter frog Leptobrachium hasselli. On the other hand, data and information on the bio-ecology of L. haselti is curentlyinsufficient. Therefore a study on the species ecology is required as the first step toward its conservation. This research aims to study habitat characteristics of L. haselti and the species biology in two different sites in Situ Gunung. Habitat data was collected using several methods. Transect was used in vegetation composit analysis. Canopy cover, leaf litter depth and air temperature was measured in each plot, while air teperature and humidity was measured at the start and end of each survey . L. hasselti population was sampled using 4x4 m plot placed perpendicular to each bodis of water. Each plot was classified according to its distance from the water bodies to study the distribution and density of each sex species (males, females and juveniles). L. haselti diet and reproduction biology was studied with a sample of 50 frogs consisting of 18 males and 12 females.
