Abstract

Cocoon l~arvestt ime significantly influenced the cocoon quality. Cocoon is harvested when the pupa is formed, the body becomes brown and h e skin is hard enough. The aim of this research was to investigate the influence of cocoon age on the cocoon quality and pupae complete fornl from two silkworn1 hybrids i.e. BS 07 and BS 10, and each hybrid differed by sex. The research was done from 1" to March 3oth 2006. The data were collected from three days old up to six days old cocoon and was analyzed using repeated measures of variance and completely randomized design of factorial pattern 2x2 with 5 replications. If the trearment had significantly effect on the variable that measured, it was continued with Least Squares Means Method. The parameters observed in this research were cocoqn we ght, single shell weight, shell ratio 2nd the complete fo~mo f pupae. The result of this research indicated significantly effect (Pi0,Ol) on cocoon weight, single shell weight and shell ratio and there was interaction among silkworm strain, scx and cocoon age. Cocoon weight, single shell weight and shell ratio were decline from three days old to four days old cocoon. Cocoon weight was decrease at four days old to six days old cocoon, but single shell weight and shell ratio were constant. Mortality between 5 to 10% from thee d;ys old up to six days old cocoon.
