      Abstract
Domestication of the wild silk moth is an adaptation process of caterpillar to become domesticated silk moth in response to food and culture room environment. It was expected to raise the population of A. atlas to develop economical sericulture for human life. As consequences, the moth has to be well maintained by providing food and controlling the reproduction. A pure strain which is more adaptive with good quality of coccon and filament was envisaged to be obtained by feeding the moth with purging nut and soursop leaves continuously. The objective of this research was measuring the success rate of A. atlas domestication on purging nut and soursop leaves. The parameters observed in this research included: sex ratio, mating moth, egg collection, larval rearing, cocoon harvesting and the moth life cycle in response to different types of fed. The egg productivity ranged from 27-342 eggs /female parental. Oviposition was observed between 3-7 days. Egg incubation was at the range of 8-10 days. The duration of larval stage feed on purging nut was about 30-40 days, while on soursop was about 34-47 days. The duration of pupa stage fed by purging nut leaves was about 30 days (males), while on soursop was about 30-32 days (males), 33 days (female). The survival rate of domestication utilizing both types of feed was not yet optimum due to the environmental and biological constraints.
