Kajian Aktivitas Harian Dan Perilaku Reproduksi Komodo (Varanus komodoensis, Ouwens 1912) Di Taman Margasatwa Ragunan

Abstract

The aims of this study was to explore the daily activities and reproduction biology of 16 komodo dragons (Varanus komodoensis) in ex-situ hábitat at Taman Margasatwa Ragunan (TMR), Jakarta. The methods include observation, interview, and processing secondary data. Daily activities were observed such as basking, sheltering, walking, wallowing, and feeding. Basking and sheltering were displayed as the dominant daily activities which was spent for 27- 41% and 54 - 70% during the observation, respectively. While courtship, mounting, laying eggs were observed as reproductive behaviours during the study. Breeding problem of the komodo dragons in TMR was the failure of eggs incubation in the last five years.
