Studi Reproduksi Bekantan (Nasalis larvatus) Di Habitat Ex-Situ
Abstract
This study aims to explore the reproductive bekantan (Nasalis larvatus) in ex-situ habitat was held at Taman Safari Indonesia. The method is carried out observations, interviews and processing secondary data on the age of sexual maturity, mating behavior and duration of gestation and lactation and playback support, factors as feed and caging. The results is female becoming adult at an average of 6 years old, and mating behavior will be seen by herself put the sullen facial expression. Then the female will approach the dominant male in the marriage. Length 7 months of pregnancy and lactation period of 1.5 years. These data are in accordance with the literature bekantan reproduction in their natural habitat. So the maintenance TSI as ex-situ habitat has also marked by the inability of animals classified as endangered in CITES Appendix I to adapt to and breed in habitats ex-situ.
