      Abstract
Lemuru is one of the important economic commodities in Bali strait, and its existence is influenced by condition of oceanography. The location of fishing ground area and the oceanography information is important in the successful exploitation activity of lemuru murces. Satellite remote sensing provides views of the ocean and its capable of detecting mesoscale features through thermal infrared and visible sensor, hence, it can be useful for locating potential fishing ground. Remote sensing, combined with conventional data collection techniques fiom fisherman, provides a p o w d tool for designing harvesting strategies for living marine resources. The objectives of the research to predict potential fishing ground of lemuru based on MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) satellite in Bali strait. The methodologies of the research are survey method and direct observation. Lemuru existence is influenced by oceanographic factors like sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface chlorophyll concentration (SSC). The SST and SSC information derived h m satellite MODIS used to determine the potential fishing ground of sardinella lemuru. Results indicated that area fishing ground has SST 25-29,50 OC and SSC 0,lO-3,76 mg/m3. Sea surface temperature and concentration of chlorophyll-a in Bali strait follows seasonal season and current pattern. Dominant current influences of Bali strait are Coastal South Java Current (APJ) and South Equatorial Current (AKS).
