Toksisitas logam berat Cu pada berbagai pH terhadap konsumsi oksigen dan respon hematologi ikan nila gift (Oreochromis sp)
Abstract
Copper is one of the essential element useful for metabolism of aquatic organisms. Its usually used to control growth of algae and pathogenic bacteria in aquatic environment, but it can be toxic if in large quantities. The pH value is very influential on copper specification in water. The aim of this research was to analyse the toxicity of copper element at various pH on oxygen consumption and haematology responses of nile tilapia. This results can be used as information for aquaculturists and the society at large on copper toxicity incase of change in the water pH value. The results of this research indicates that significant difference in all the blood parameters (average erythrocyte, leucocyte, Hct, Hb and leucocyte differentiation) between treatments (p<0,05) with preference, decreases with decrease in pH value. Based on filaments histology analysis results indicates that infection on gill filament, kidney and skin hence interferes with the rate of oxygen consumption and abnormality in the blood of specimen. Fish survival rate in the P1 (pH 5±0,5) 46.67% was lower than in other treatments. Accumulation of copper due to decrease in water pH also decreases oxygen consumption rate, as well as blood parameters.
