      Abstract
About one-third of Indonesian infants from poor families suffered from growth faltering and delay development. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of Delvita supplement, nutrition education and stimulation on growth and development of 5 -7 months old infants from poor families. The study design was a quasi experimental. Three groups were assigned in this study design e.g. PS (nutrition education and stimulation) group, n=57; DPS (Delvita supplement, nutrition education and stimulation ) group, n=57 and control (non intervention) group, n=57. Delvita composed of soybeans fortified with multi micronutrient. Each of intervention namely the nutrition education and stimulation and Delvita distribution was administered biweekly at Posyandu during six months. Data collection on weight, length and Bayley's scale were collected before and after intervention. The logistic regression was applied to analyze the effects of intervention on the increment of weight, length, MDI and PDI scores. At baseline, there was no significant difference on Weight-for-Age Z scores (VV/AZ), Length-for-Age Z scores (UA-Z), Weight-for-Length Z scores 0N/L-Z), MDI, PDI among the groups. At after intervention, the DPS group had the highest of W/A-Z score and UA-Z score but there was no significant difference in W/L-Z score among the groups. The positive changes in MDI and PDI scores were the highest in the PS group. There was no significant difference in MDI score between DPS group and control group but DPS group had higher PDI score than control group. The logistic regression showed that the OPS intervention had positive effects on W/A-Z score (OR=2.90), UA-Z score (OR=6.10), POI score (OR=3.78) and the PS intervention had positive effects on MDI score (OR=4.70) and POI score (OR=B.59). This implies that the DPS was the best intervention for combating growth faltering and delay development of infant among poor families.
