In Upper Catchment Area (Case Study in Upper Catchment of Cikapundung, North Bandung).
Abstract
Land usage in fhe upper catchment of Cikapundung is increasingly uncontrollable so that a lot of land usage disagree wifh the required conditions. The aim of this study wem: (I) evaluating the existing land usage to its land usage suitability; (2) cumpiIing sustainable Iand usage rnodel in the upper catchment; and (3) conducbng simulation based on land usage model which have been formulated to study the conservation expense, beneficial cmp type, and appmpriate conservation practice. 7??ere were t h m submodels made in this research (submodel of erosion using USLE and Arsyad, subrnw of nrnoff using Bransby and Wlliams, and s o d economic subMOdeI using BCratio and NPV). These submodels then integrated to become one model of land usage in the upper catchment using pmgramme package "Powersim vembn 2.5~". This model simulated by considering land suitability aspect to obtain sustainable land usage. Most of land usages in the upper catchment of Cikapundung (64,98 %) disagree with Iand condition. Model of Sustainable land usage can be used to depict system behaviour, because the model compiled from three subm&/s using equation which have been adapted with the condition of research area. Results of simulation indicated that, at present fanning in dry land area in the upper catchment still profit because its BC-mfio 333; nun irigafed field or dry land can be farm sustainably if as minimum as 10 % of the net income used for conservation practices; potato, pepper and chickpea represent most beneficial vegetable crops if as minimum as 5 % ftom the net income used for the conservation praekes. An apprvpriate conservafion pracfioe was credit terrace, because it can be consfructed by famr sfep by sfep while soil tiiiage so that fhe land can be used sustainably.
