      Abstract
      Alih fungsi penggunaan lahan hutan menjadi non hutan berdampak negatif terhadap banjir di musim penghujan dan kekeringan di musim kemarau. Penelitian pemodelan pendugaan banjir (debit puncak dan waktu menuju debit puncak) dan kekeringan perlu dilakukan untuk pengelolaan DAS di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini: 1) merakit model pendugaan banjir dan kekeringan di DAS Separi, dan 2) menentukan komposisi luas penggunaan lahan secara optimal dalam rangka penanggulangan banjir dan kekeringan, serta pengelolaan DAS Separi. DAS Separi, kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara, propinsi Kalimantan Timur pada koordinat 00003’ – 00038’ LS dan 117008’ – 117031’ BT dipilih sebagai lokasi penelitian. Waktu penelitian lapang adalah bulan Januari 2005 – Juni 2006.
       
      A huge disater might be happened as a result of land use change especially forest that has good cover then was barely opened to rain drop impact as a result of trees cutting. Two negatives impacts that usually happened are flood in the rainy season and drought in the dry season.
