Interactions: mangroves, fisheries and forestry management in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper discusses the ecological relationship between mangroves and fisheries as both being affected by human exploitation through various forestry activities. The abiotic features, biotic characteristics, status and conditions of mangrove ecosystems are described as well as their functions and utilization. Also included are different strategies aiming at protection and rehabilitation of these ecosystems along with the integration of community participation and management.
