dc.description.abstractThe savannah forest in East Nusa Tenggara pr-ovince is one of the largest forest areas in the eastern part of Indonesia. Various specific and unique floristic species growing naturally in this region is interesting to study especialiy those have economical value and environmental benefit. Based on the result of the exploratiorl and collection of valuable flora at savannah areas of Besipae and Oernasi in West Timor, East Nusa Tenggara province, there were collected 86 species of valuable flora. Of the 86 species of valuable flora, 17 species had prospect to be managed and developed in this area. Of those 17 species i.e.,3 species as human food source (Tnl7znrirzdus irzclicn, ori-asus ,flcrbelliJer, Corypha utan), 6 species as forages (Ziziphus nzauriiina, Dactylocterziun~ negypfillnz, Heteropogon contortus, Cynodon dactylorz, Penrzisetu??~p urpui-euin, Isclzae~?zrlr17r -ugosun?), 1 species as a medicinal plant (Murraya paniculata), 2 species as handicraft and household materials (Santalum album, Bambusa blurneana). 2 species as onstruction materials (Pterocarpus indicus, Sen~za siamea), 1 species as essential-oil plants (Accicicr fc~rnesiarza), I species as tannin-producing plant (Acacia leucophloen), and I species as gseen manuse source (Teconza stnlzs)id
