      Abstract
      The original source of the soil organic matter is plant tissue and carbon is the chief element present in soil organic matter, comprising from 48 to 58% of total weight (Allison, 1965). Hence, estimates of organic matter frequently are based on organic C, which is determined mainly by Walkley & Black method.
