      Hubungan Kerapatan Mutlak Vegetasi Strata Bawah dengan Kualitas Air Tanah di Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) di Jambi

      Abstract
      Vegetasi strata bawah berperan penting dalam memengaruhi kualitas air tanah melalui mekanisme filtrasi, penyerapan unsur hara, dan perlindungan terhadap erosi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kerapatan vegetasi strata bawah terhadap kualitas air tanah serta keterkaitannya dengan keragaan pertumbuhan tanaman kelapa sawit. Penelitian dilakukan secara observatif pada enam jarak dari badan sungai (2 m, 5 m, 10 m, 20 m, 40 m, dan 60 m) di perkebunan kelapa sawit PTPN VI Jambi, selama periode Agustus hingga Desember 2021. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa vegetasi dengan kerapatan tinggi seperti Axonopus compressus dan Borreria alata berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan kualitas air tanah (pH, NO3?, EC, K?, Na?, Ca²?). Kandungan glifosat terdeteksi di semua titik pengamatan, dengan konsentrasi tertinggi pada jarak menengah. Keragaan tanaman kelapa sawit, khususnya tinggi tanaman, cenderung lebih optimal pada jarak dekat dari sungai. Dengan demikian, vegetasi strata bawah yang dikelola secara optimal berperan penting dalam mendukung pertumbuhan tanaman dan menjaga kualitas lingkungan secara berkelanjutan.
       
      Understory vegetation plays a vital role in influencing groundwater quality through filtration, nutrient uptake, and erosion control. This study aimed to analyze the effect of understory vegetation density on groundwater quality and its relationship with the growth performance of oil palm. The research was conducted observationally at six distances from the riverbank (2 m, 5 m, 10 m, 20 m, 40 m, and 60 m) in the oil palm plantation of PTPN VI, Jambi, from August to December 2021. Results showed that vegetation with high density, such as Axonopus compressus and Borreria alata, contributed to improving groundwater quality (pH, NO3?, EC, K?, Na?, Ca²?). Glyphosate was detected at all observation points, with the highest concentration found at intermediate distances. Oil palm growth performance, especially plant height, was more optimal near the river. Thus, well-managed understory vegetation plays an essential role in supporting plant growth and maintaining environmental quality in a sustainable manner.
