      Abstract

The abundance of soil fauna is influenced by type, land use, land management, and slope gradient. This study aims to identify the abundance of macrofauna and mesofauna in the soil and analyze their relationship with climatic and edaphic factors. The research was conducted on three different slopes, namely 0–8%, 8–15%, and 15–25%, as well as in natural land (15–25%). The results of the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test indicate that the abundance of soil fauna in Open Lands (0-8%, 8-15%, and 15-25%) is significantly different from that in natural land (15–25%) at the 95% confidence interval. The abundance of soil fauna is closely related to vegetation density. The results of the correlation analysis show that air temperature and light intensity are negatively correlated with the abundance of soil fauna. Edaphic factors such as soil temperature, soil respiration, and litter weight exhibit a very strong positive correlation with the abundance of soil fauna. Keywords: abundance, climatic, edaphic, post-mining, soil fauna, slope
