      Abstract

The food industry has a strategic role in ensuring food availability, supporting economic stability, and improving food security through product diversification and exports. However, the food industry at the micro and small industry (IMK) scale still faces significant challenges, such as limited access to capital, technology, and market control. This study aims to examine the effect of cooperative membership on the performance of micro and small enterprises in the food industry in Indonesia. The data used is secondary data from the 2021 micro and small industry (IMK) survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The analysis method used is binary logistics and Propensity Score Matching (PSM). The results of this study indicate that the factors that have a significant effect on the decision of food industry MSEs to join cooperative membership are education, length of business, business location, number of workers, and training. The results also show that cooperative membership has no significant impact on business performance as measured by revenue and profit of food industry MSEs.
