      Abstract

Quail are warm-blooded animals without sweat glands, making them susceptible to heat stress. The addition of exogenous antioxidants such as coconut shell liquid smoke can reduce heat stress. This study aims to analyze the effect of using grade 1 coconut shell liquid smoke on the weight and percentage of carcasses and quail parts. The method used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments: treatment (P0) as control, treatment (P1) with the addition of ACTK 0.25 ml/L drinking water, treatment (P2) with the addition of ACTK 0.5 ml/L drinking water, treatment (P3) with the addition of ACTK 1 ml/L drinking water and consisted of 3 replicates. The object used in this study was 47 week laying quail with 6 slaughtered samples for each trearment . The data obtained were analyzed using Minitab.20 with ANOVA variation. All treatments showed no significant differences in the observed changes. Statistical results showed that the addition of liquid coconut shell smoke (ACTK) grade 1 to 1 ml/L drinking water can be done in the maintenance of quail, without disturbing the weight and percentage of carcasses and carcass parts.
