      Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of different bioactivators on the composting of duck litter waste at the Vocational School of IPB, Bogor, West Java. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments: control (P0), EM4 bioactivator (P1), and Trichoderma bioactivator (P2). Observed parameters included pH, temperature, odor, color, and nutrient content. The results showed that EM4 accelerated odor elimination, with no detectable odor by day 13, while the control required up to day 19. The compost color in all treatments changed to black at the end of fermentation. The highest peak temperatures were achieved in the EM4 and Trichoderma treatments, reaching 50°C on days 7 and 9, while the control did not reach these temperatures. Laboratory analysis showed that the C-organic content for P0, P1, and P2 was 32.8%, 30.6%, and 30.2%, respectively. Total nitrogen content was 1.85%, 2.05%, and 2.25%, with the control not meeting the minimum standard of 2%. P2O5 content was 4.95%, 5.30%, and 4.92%, and K2O content was 3.20%, 3.09%, and 3.90%, all meeting the compost quality standards. The use of EM4 is recommended as it effectively accelerates decomposition and produces high-quality compost.
