      Abstract
      Pengembangan ulat sutra eri (Samia cynthia ricini) perlu dilakukan dalam upaya untuk mencukupi permintaan serat sutra nasional yang semakin meningkat. Indonesia adalah negara berbentuk kepulauan dengan geografis yang berbeda-beda. Topografi yang beragam membuat suhu di setiap daerah berbeda-beda. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis produktivitas ulat sutra eri (Samia cynthia ricini) pada pemeliharaan suhu lingkungan rendah yang dibandingkan dengan pemeliharaan pada suhu optimal. Perbedaan produktivitas pada kedua suhu tersebut dianalisis menggunakan uji-T. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ulat sutra eri yang diberi perlakuan suhu rendah memiliki hasil yang lebih rendah pada panjang, lebar, dan bobot larva, fase ulat lebih panjang, mortalitas lebih tinggi, serta persentase produksi kokon lebih rendah. Akan tetapi bobot kokon utuh pada suhu rendah lebih besar dibandingkan suhu optimal.
       
      Cultivating eri silkworms (Samia cynthia ricini) is vital to satisfy the increasing national demand for silk fiber. Indonesia's status as an archipelagic nation offers a variety of geographical conditions. This diversity in topography results in varying ambient temperatures across the regions. The aim of this study is to evaluate the productivity of eri silkworms (Samia cynthia ricini) raised in low ambient temperature environments versus those cultivated in optimal temperature settings. A t-test was utilized to assess the productivity differences between the two temperature regimes. The findings revealed that eri silkworms raised in cooler temperatures exhibited shorter larval length, width, and weight, a prolonged larval stage, higher mortality rates, and a decreased cocoon production percentage. Notably, the overall cocoon weight under low-temperature conditions was higher compared to those in optimal temperatures. These results not only enhance our understanding of sericulture but also suggest potential strategies for improving silkworm productivity in varying temperature scenarios
