      Abstract

Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) is one of the more popular poultry commodities in Indonesia. This study used male quails aged 12 weeks given bandotan leaf extract (Ageratum Conyzoides L) as an antioxidant. A total of 80 male quails were observed from 6 weeks to 12 weeks of age. Bandotan leaf extract was given through drinking water with three dose levels: 1.5%, 3%, and 4.5% at 50 mL tail-1 day-1 . This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with Tukey's multiple comparison test analysis. The variables observed in this study included slaughter weight, carcass percentage, carcass component percentage, edible and non edible percentage, non carcass percentage, non carcass component percentage. The results showed that the addition of bandotan leaf extract did not significantly affect the slaughter weight, wing percentage, edible and non edible weight percentage, and non carcass percentage but the carcass percentage and commercial cuts (breast, thigh, back) showed significant differences. This indicates that the addition of bandotan extract to quail drinking water can increase the carcass percentage
