      Abstract

Indonesia has high biodiversity that has the potential to develop various industries including the textile industry. One of the raw materials for textiles is fiber from silkworms. The common silkworm cultivated by farmers is the eri silkworm (Samia cynthia ricini). Jopati and Joglo strains are superior strains of eri silkworm and their productivity is affected by temperature. This study analyzed the productivity of Jopati and Joglo strains of eri silkworm at different rearing temperatures. This study used a factorial design with two factors, namely strains (Jopati and Joglo) and temperature (25-27 ºC and 32-34 ºC), three replications and used 600 eri silkworms for each strain, with the observed variables being width, length, weight, mortality, larval phase length, cocoon productivity and imago success. The results showed that eri silkworm strains Jopati and Joglo at different rearing temperatures affected productivity in the parameters of width, length, weight, mortality, length of larval phase, cocoon productivity, and imago success, but differences in strains had no effect on productivity.
