      Abstract

Jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis L.) is a type of legume that can grow well on all types of land, such as dry land, acid land, and marginal land. Increasing jack bean production can be done by applying fertilizer to complete the plant's nutrient needs, such as using organic fertilizer. This research aims to examine the effect of organic fertilization on the growth and production of jack bean. The research was conducted from November 2023 to April 2024 at the Sawah Baru IPB Experimental Garden, Dramaga, Bogor. The design used in this research is a single factor of RKLT with organic fertilizer doses as treatment which consist of 6 levels, namely without fertilization (P0), goat manure 5 tons ha-1 (P1), goat manure 10 tons ha-1 (P2), goat manure 5 tons ha-1 + dolomite powder (P3), goat manure 10 tons ha-1 + dolomite powder (P4), inorganic fertilizer treatment of 50 kg ha-1 urea, 100 kg ha-1 SP-36, 112,5 kg ha-1 KCL (P5). The results of the research show that goat manure treatment with a dose of 10 tons ha-1 + dolomite powder can be an alternative fertilizer dose in cultivating jack bean plants apart from using inorganic fertilizer.
