      Abstract
Supporting primate conservation through local knowledge is essential, as it reflects the relationship between local people and their environment. Local knowledge has valuable information and can be used to raise public awareness about primate conservations. This study aimed to determine the knowledge of mine workers regarding primate conservation in Martabe Goldmine, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra. Data were collected via questionnaires from 731 mine workers at PT Agincourt Resources Martabe. The relationship between workers’ sociodemographic variables and their knowledge of primate conservation was examined using Kruskal-Wallis’s test and the Generalised Linear Model (GLM) using RStudio. Results showed that workers’ knowledge of primates is good (with an average score 67.24%). Factors that influence knowledge are female gender, education, and department of processing and security. Most workers sometimes see beruk and surili, but have never seen orangutan. Variables that affect primate sightseeing include gender, such as females. Workers slightly like the primate existence. Female gender, adult, non-local, and maintenance’s worker are factor that influencing this attitude. Workers have also complied with company regulations related to wildlife through biodiversity training and they showed that the regulations effectively prevent conflicts between workers and wildlife and support wildlife conservation efforts.
