      Abstract

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) is one of the food crops potentially to be developed as an alternative food source in Indonesia. The high carbohydrate content of this commodity can support food diversification efforts. It may be used also as feed and energy source source. The objective of this study was to examine the growth performance, yield components and yield nine sorghum varieties in Bogor. The research was conducted at Leuwikopo Experimental Farm and Post-Harvest Laboratory, Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB from January to May 2024. The experimental design used was randomized complete block design with single factor, namely genotypes which consisted of 9 varieties. The results of the analysis of variance of nine sorghum genotypes showed that genotype had a significant effect on all observed characters, except for the characters of fresh panicle weight, dry panicle weight, and 100-grain weight. Bioguma 1 variety achieved the highest grain productivity (10 ton ha-1).
