      Keragaman Karakter Morfologi, Agronomi, dan Waxy Sorgum Populasi F2 (Demak 4 x Soper 6 Agritan)

      Abstract
      Sorgum sebagai pangan alternatif yang toleran pada berbagai kondisi lingkungan tumbuh di Indonesia memiliki tipe non-waxy sehingga teksturnya pera dan kurang disukai masyarakat. Sebagai pangan sorgum perlu dilakukan perbaikan untuk menghasilkan sorgum tipe waxy dengan tekstur yang pulen. Penelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh informasi tentang keragaman karakter morfologi, agronomi, dan sifat waxy pada populasi F2, serta memperoleh genotipe yang berdaya hasil tinggi dan kualitas yang baik. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus - Januari 2024 di Kebun Percobaan IP2TP Muara Bogor, Jawa Barat. Genotipe yang digunakan adalah sorgum populasi F2 hasil persilangan Demak 4 (waxy) x Soper 6 Agritan (non-waxy). Sorgum waxy memiliki kandungan amilosa < 20% dan non waxy memiliki kandungan amilosa > 25%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan keragaman pada karakter kuantitatif. Nilai tengah populasi F2 cenderung lebih kecil dari tetuanya dan simpangan baku yang lebih besar dari tetuanya. Populasi F2 dikendalikan oleh gen aditif, epistasis duplikat, dan epistasis komplementer yang cenderung memiliki jumlah gen yang sedikit. Karakter bobot biji per malai memiliki nilai heritabilitas dan koefisien keragaman genetik kategori tinggi sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai karakter seleksi. Sorgum populasi F2 berdasarkan hasil iodine staining 98% memiliki kandungan amilosa yang rendah atau waxy (<20%)
       
      Sorghum, an alternative food that is tolerant to various environmental conditions grown in Indonesian, has a non-waxy texture, which makes it less popular. The quality of the sorghum is crucial, particularly the rice-like waxy sorghum with a smooth texture. The objective of this study is to gather information on the diversity of morphological, agronomic, and waxy characteristics in the F2 population of sorghum, with a focus on producing waxy sorghum with a soft texture. The research was conducted from August to January 2024 at the IP2TP Muara Experimental Farm in Bogor, West Java. The genotypes used were the sorghum F2 population from the cross of Demak 4 (waxy) and Soper 6 Agritan (non-waxy). Waxy sorghum has amylose content < 20%, and non-waxy sorghum has amylose content > 25%. The results of this study showed diversity in quantitative characteristics. The mean value of the F2 population tends to be smaller than that of its parents, and the standard deviation is greater than that of its parents. The F2 population is controlled by additive genes, duplicate epistasis, and complementary epistasis, which tend to have few genes. The character of seed weight per panicle has a high heritability value and coefficient in the genetic diversity category, so it can be used as a selection character. Based on the results of iodine staining, 98% of the Sorghum F2 population of the Sorghum F2 population has a low amylose content or is waxy (<20%)
