      Abstract

Bandung Regency possesses environmental conditions and a climate conducive to the growth and development of common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). In 2022, the productivity in Bandung Regency reached 6,404.3 tons over an area of 247 hectares (BPS 2023). This study employs a crop simulation model to evaluate the productivity, growth duration, and water usage of common beans under varying climatic conditions. The data utilized include daily weather data, soil physical parameters, and common bean crop parameters as inputs for the model. The simulation model development encompasses growth, development, and water balance models. The research incorporates an agroclimatology analysis in Pangalengan District, utilizing surveys and interviews to gather data on planting patterns, growth duration, and productivity of common beans cultivated by local farmers. Model parameterization and calibration were conducted using secondary data sourced from literature. The model was validated against field survey data. Simulation results indicated that the highest productivity of common beans was 1.8 tons/ha, with a total water requirement of 109.3 mm at 52 days after planting (DAP). The optimal planting periods were identified as March and November, yielding a productivity ratio of 1.4 tons/ha/day. Model validation demonstrated robust performance with an error margin of 4.6% and an R2 of 0.94. Appropriate cropping patterns are crucial for achieving optimal productivity in Bandung Regency. Keywords: biomass, crop simulation, phaseolus vulgaris, productivity, water requirements
