The Impact Of Lignocaine- Ropivacaine Local Block Anaesthesia On Cat Post Castration
Abstract
This study aimed to assess the impact of a lignocaine-ropivacaine block on cats post castration. Eight cats were divided into two groups. First group consists of 4 male cats that were induced with mixture of tiletamine+zolazepam (Zoletil®), ketamine, and xylazine (TKX). Second group consists of 4 male cats that were induced with TKX and combination of local block of 1 mg/kg BW lignocaine and 0.75 mg/kg BW ropivacaine at the scrotal sac. Pain score of each group is assesed using UNESP-Botucatu Multidimensional Composite Pain Scale at the timeline of 2, 4, and 24 hours post castration. As a conclusion, infiltration of TKX with the combination of local block (Lignocaine + Ropivacaine) helped to managed post-operative pain as compared to inducing with TKX only.
