      Abstract

Zeoponic is an innovative plant growth medium (PGM) composed of zeolite, compost, and cocopeat base materials accompanied by a certain amount of macro and micro fertilizers. Zeoponic is generally used as PGM for ornamental plants and vegetables. For fruit-bearing plants such as tomatoes and cayenne pepper, zeoponics requires additional macro fertilizers, especially phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) because both elements play a very important role in fruit formation. This study aims to determine the appropriate doses of P and K fertilizers on zeoponic PGM for tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) and cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) plants and to determine changes in the chemical properties of zeoponic PGM after the addition of P and K fertilizers. The research was structured using a single-factor completely randomized design (CRD) model in the form of doses of P and K fertilizers using tomato and cayenne pepper plants on zeoponic PGM. The study consisted of four treatments, namely with the addition of 0 g/l SP-36 and 0 g/l KCl, 0.67 g/l SP-36 and 0.40 g/l KCl, 1.00 g/l SP-36 and 0.60 g/l KCl, and 1.33 g/l SP-36 and 0.80 g/l KCl which are respectively marked with the symbols PK0, PK1, PK2, and PK3. Plant growth and production were observed and chemical properties of zeoponic PGM were analyzed. Based on plant growth and production, PK2 treatment (addition of SP-36 1.00 g/l and KCl 0.60 g/l) is the optimal dose for tomato plants and PK1 treatment (addition of SP-36 0.67 g/l and KCl 0.40 g/l) is the optimal dose for cayenne pepper plants. The addition of SP-36 and KCl showed an increase in pH, EC, P-available, C-organic, CEC, and K-dd values in zeoponic PGM.
