      Permeabilitas Metanol pada Membrane Electrode Assembly Nafion Terkompositkan TiO2

      Abstract
      Sel bahan bakar metanol merupakan salah satu energi transisi yang dapat mengurangi emisi karbon. Komponen utama dalam sel bahan bakar metanol adalah membran polimer elektrolit (PEM). Nafion kerap digunakan sebagai PEM. Namun, kerap terjadi permeabilitas metanol. Pengisi anorganik, seperti TiO2 mampu meminimumkan permeabilitas metanol pada nafion. Penelitian ini bertujuan memodifikasi nafion menjadi membrane electrode assembly (MEA) menggunakan pengisi TiO2 dan melihat pengaruh modifikasi membran terhadap permeabilitas metanol pada membran.Permeabilitas metanol terendah didapatkan oleh MEA Nafion-TiO2 sebesar 4×10-6 cm2.s-1dengan konsentrasi metanol 15% sedangkan permeabilitas metanol tertinggi yang didapatkan adalah 2×10-5 cm2.s-1 oleh MEA Nafion murni dengan konsentrasi metanol 10%. Hasil ini menunjukan bahwa nafion yang dimodifikasi menjadi MEA dengan penambahan pengisi TiO2 akan menurunkan nilai permeabilitas metanol pada membran
       
      Methanol fuel cells are a transition energy that can reduce carbon emissions. The main component in a methanol fuel cell is a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM). Nafion is often used as PEM. However, methanol permeability often occurs. Inorganic fillers, such as TiO2 , can minimize methanol permeability in nafion. This research aims to modify nafion into a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) using TiO2 filler and see the effect of membrane modification on the methanol permeability of the membrane. The lowest methanol permeability was obtained by MEA Nafion-TiO2 of 4×10-6 cm2.s-1 with a methanol concentration of 15%, while the highest methanol permeability obtained was 2×10-5 cm2.s-1 by MEA pure Nafion with a methanol concentration of 10 %. These results prove that nafion modified into MEA by adding TiO2 filler will reduce the methanolpermeability value of the membrane.
