      Abstract
      Atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) was the layer which affected by the surface's layer underneath. Different characteristics on the surface will affect the dynamics in boundary layer. This study aims to determine the height of ABL which was influenced by differences of surface characteristics at different times and places. This study conducted in two different surface characteristics of area, these are Bandara Soekarno Hatta as urban area and Situ Gede Dramaga Bogor as agricultural area. Meteorological parameters data from radiosonde were analyzed with the approachment from vertical profiles of temperature, humidity, and wind speed also atmospheric stability condition. The average height of ABL in Bandara Soekarno Hatta was higher than Situ Gede Dramaga Bogor, and that was because the differences of surface characteristics, moisture content and temperature between air. Atmospheric conditions at both areas tend to be stable in the morning and evening then unstable during the day. Based on the pattern of vertical profiles ABL parameter, the value of the temperature near the surface was greater at Bandara Soekarno Hatta compared to Situ Gede Dramaga Bogor and inversely proportional to the value of the humidity. Fluctuation for temperature and moisture in each areas had consistency meanwhile the wind speed in both areas had fluctuated. That shows the moisture content and the difference of surface characteristics affect the value of the temperature, humidity, and wind speed.
