Pengaruh jarak tanam terhadap ukuran dan kualitas buah nenas (Ananas comosus L.) varietas queen
Abstract
The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of plant spacing on the growth, fruit size and the quality of pineapples var queen. The experiment was conducted on May 2002 until June 2003 at Pasir Kuda, Bogor. The experiment was arranged in Randomized Block Design with two factors. The first factor was plant spacing between row (80 and 100 cm) and the second factor was plant spacing with in row (15, 30 and 45 cm). Obtained data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and mean separation was determined by Duncan's multiple range test at p ≤ 0.05.
The result after harvesting at 13 months indicated that both of the plant spacing, treatment was not significantly influenced to stem height, leave width, leave number, fruit weight, fruit diameter, core diameter, crown length, crown weight, fruit length, crown leave number, juice pH values, total soluble solids, deep eyes, slips number and suckers. In this experiment plant spacing was not significantly affected to fruit size and quality of fruit. Significant differences were found in shoots number inside row plant spacing. The treatment of plant spacing was significantly effected to yield. The yield was higher in row plant spacing 15 cm (36.82 ton/ha), than in plant spacing between row 45 cm (14.29 ton/ha). The shoots number were higher inside plant spacing in the row 15 cm (19.97) but it was slightly lower to slips number and suckers.
