      Abstract
Microsphere is spherical micron-sized particles, made of ceramic materials, glass, or polymer as gas, solvents, or solid confining agent in form of organic or inorganic compound. Microsphere can be prepared using emulsification method. Microsphere based materials used were polyblend of polylactic acid and polycaprolactone, which were dissolved in volatile solvent then emulsified and dispersed in an immiscible solvent to form microparticles. Tween 80 was used as emulsifier in polyblend microsphere preparation. Polar hydroxy groups of tween would bind with water molecules while its long chain would bind with dichloromethane molecules to form more stable emulsion. Concentration of tween 80 added affected the emulsion stability that influenced uniformity and increased the number of microsphere produced. The greater concentration of tween 80 used the number of sized 125-212 μm and 75-125 μm microsphere were increasing, while the member of greater of >212 μm microsphere were decreasing. The addition of tween 80 as emulsifier in microsphere preparation do not affect microsphere degradation mechanism.
