Manajemen Produksi Benih Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis gunineensis Jacq.) di Kebun Surya Adi PT Bina Sawit Makmur, Sumatera Selatan

Abstract

Permasalahan yang sedang dihadapi oleh produsen benih unggul kelapa saat ini adalah tingginya produksi benih putih dan benih kecil yang kurang diminati oleh konsumen. Mengingat tingginya jumlah benih putih dan benih kecil dalam setiap tandan benih, maka penting halnya untuk dilakukan penelitian untuk mengamati faktor-faktor apa saja yang menyebabkan tingginya jumlah benih abnormal ini dalam tandan benih kelapa sawit. Kegiatan magang telah dilakukan di PT Bina Sawit Makmur, Sumatera Selatan selama empat bulan dari Februari 2023 hingga Mei 2023. Kegiatan magang mencakup seluruh kegiatan budidaya kelapa sawit dari segi teknis dan manajerial seperti teknisi, mandor, dan asisten. Tujuan khusus magang ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh frekuensi panen tandan benih terhadap mutu fisik benih kelapa sawit untuk mengatasi masalah tingginya produksi benih kecil dan benih putih kelapa sawit yang kurang diminati oleh konsumen. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap beberapa frekuensi panen per tahun dan diperoleh hasil semakin tinggi frekuensi panen tandan benih dalam setahun maka perolehan benih dan kualitas fisiknya juga akan menurun signifikan.

The most current issue faced among the coconut oil palm seed producers is the high production of white and small seeds that are less desirable to consumers. Given the high number of white seeds and small seeds in each seed bunch, it is important to conduct research to observe what factors cause the high number of abnormal seeds in oil palm seed bunches. Internship activities have been carried out at PT Bina Sawit Makmur, South Sumatra for four months from February 2023 to May 2023. The internship covered all oil palm cultivation activities from technical and managerial aspects such as technicians, foremen, and assistants. The specific objective of this internship is to determine the effect of seed bunch harvesting frequency on the physical quality of oil palm seeds to overcome the problem of high production of small seeds and white seeds of oil palm that are less desirable to consumers. Observations were made on several harvesting frequencies per year and it was found that the higher the harvesting frequency of seed bunches in a year, the seed yield and physical quality will also decrease significantly.
