Relasi Gender Dalam Perspektif Akses Dan Kontrol Terhadap Sumberdaya: Kasus Pada Sentra Industri Gerabah Di Desa Anjun, Kecamatan Plered, Kabupaten Purwakarta

Abstract

Gender Relation in Access and Control Perspective: A Case of Gerabah Industry in Desa Anjun, Kecamatan Plered, Kabupaten Purwakarta, West Java. The objectives of this study were: (1) identified respondent’s characteristic in gerabah industry; (2) analyzed factors which related to access and control of craftsman; and (3) analyzed gender relation in household’s craftsman (consists of three main parts: access and control to productive resources in gerabah industry, division of labour, and pattern of decision making). The research applied a quantitative approach which supported by qualitative information. The quantitative data were collected by using survey method on 32 craftsman. The results of these study showed that there were still happen the gender inequality which can identify by activities of craftsman’s household. Men has the bigger access and control to productive resources than women. The fact showed that the owner of these business mostly were men and there was stereotype in craftsman’s society that men convenience to operate this business. Generally, the division of labour influenced determined by sex. Men participated in productive and social activities and women participated in reproductive activities. Beside that, in the process of gerabah’s production, men did the activities which need physical power and women did the activities which need high accuration. The pattern of decision making in craftsman’s household dominant by one actor (man or woman only)
