      Abstract
      Myomenippe hardwickii (Crustacea; Decapoda; Menippidae) memiliki berbagai nama berbeda pada setiap daerah, berhabitat sekitar mangrove hingga zona intertidal berbatu. Menippidae dikelompokan menurut ciri morfologi ujung capit yang hitam yang terdapat juga pada famili Xanthidae. Namun pengelompokan menggunakan ciri morfologi terkadang mengakibatkan kesalahan identifikasi akibat dari kemiripan ciri. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi cryptic species dari spesies Myomenippe hardwickii yang ada di Indramayu dan Ujung Kulon berdsarkan morfologi dan gen COI genom mitokondria. Kepiting batu yang ditemukan di Indramayu dapat dikonfirmasi berdasarkan morfologi dan gen COI merupakan spesies Myomenippe hardwickii. Sedangkan untuk spesies yang berasal dari Ujung Kulon merupakan spesies Menippe rumphii yang berbeda dengan Myomenippe hardwickii dan juga bukan termasuk famili Xanthidae
       
      Myomenippe hardwickii (Crustacea; Decapoda; Menippidae) is known by different names in each region. Habitat ranging, mangroves to rocky intertidal zones. The Menippidae are classified based on the morphology of the black tips of the pincers, which are also found in the Xanthidae family. However, due to feature similarity, grouping using morphological characteristics may result in identification errors. The aim of this study is to identify cryptic species of Myomenippe hardwickii in Indramayu and Ujung Kulon using morphology and the mitochondrial genome's COI gene. The rock crab discovered in Indramayu is a species of Myomenippe hardwickii, according to morphology and the COI gene. Meanwhile, the Ujung Kulon species is a Menippe rumphii that is distinct from Myomenippe hardwickii and does not belong to the Xanthidae family
