      Abstract

Incisional wounds are a form of skin damage caused by sharp objects. One of the utilizations of blood for alternative wound treatment is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). This study aims to compare the administration of PRP with the Pure Platelet-Rich Plasma (P-PRP) and Leukocyte and Platelet-Rich Plasma (L-PRP) methods using allogeneic and xenogeneic blood on the parameter of incision wound healing in rats. A total of 18 rats, each incised five wounds on their backs and treated with L-PRP and P-PRP from rat blood (allogenic), L-PRP and P-PRP from rabbit blood (xenogeneic) and NaCL 0,9% (negative control). Skin samples were taken on the 3rd, 5th, and 7th days. The results showed that wounds treated with P-PRP and L-PRP both allogeneic and xenogeneic promoted wound healing. Wounds treated with P-PRP dried and closed faster than other groups. Furthermore, P-PRP groups showed the faster formation of granulation tissue, epithelialization, and collagen deposition. There was no rejection reaction to the administration of PRP from both allogeneic and xenogeneic blood.
