      Abstract

Canine parvovirus (CPV) is highly contagious and is spread from dog to dog by director indirect contact with their faeces. Vaccines can prevent this infection, but mortality can reach 91% in untreated cases. The objective is to study the occurrence of canine parvovirus at Segar Veterinary Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The data of canine parvovirus cases on dogs will be collected from medical records in Segar Veterinary Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Each canine parvovirus which are presented and recorded individually between the month of January to April 2022. According to primary data collected of canine infectious diseases during January-April showed there were 23 cases canine infectious diseases. The canine parvovirus cases had the highest incidence (7/23; 30.4 %) compared to other canine infectious diseases such as leptospirosis, rabies. During this research, it is noted that the number of dogs(3/7; 42.8%) which are unvaccinated that are infected with canine parvovirus and being admitted to the hospital are discharged, with the rest of the dogs (4/7; 57.2%) that are admittedtoo late and deceased due to unsuccessful treatment. Therefore, this proves that the percentageof successful treatment of unvaccinated dogs infected with canine parvovirus is low. Usually, the percentage of successful treatment can be higher if diagnosed and treated early. Generally,as the symptoms are usually obvious and noticeable, early treatment and control can be done.
