      Abstract

Helicoverpa armigera is a vegetable pest that is of concern in both tropical and sub-tropical regions. In Indonesia, which is an area with a tropical climate, H. armigera was found to attack tomato plants thereby reducing tomato production, one of which was in Bandung Regency which is the center of tomato fruit production after Garut Regency. Climatic factors can affect the distribution potential of H. armigera pests. Pest response to climate parameters can be demonstrated using the Climex bioclimatic model. Therefore, in this study, the compare years function from Climex was used to explain the influence of climate factors such as air temperature, air humidity, and rainfall in 2012-2021 on the growth rate of H. armigera in Bandung Regency. The results of the model output show an Ecoclimatic Index (EI) value of 38-42 so that the growth and development of H. armigera is not appropriate in Bandung Regency each year. In addition, the value of the coefficient of determination (R2) of the climatic elements of air temperature, air humidity and rainfall is 0.7%; 1.3%; and 0.8%. This means that air humidity has a greater influence on the area of attack of H. armigera compared to other climatic factors.
