Pengelolaan Pulau Kecil Terluar di Perbatasan Indonesia-Malaysia (Studi Kasus Pulau Karimun Kecil, Kepulauan Riau)

Abstract

The small islands of Indonesia border have strategic values as base point on border steadiness of Indonesia waters area. That is management necessary the small islands as border of Indonesia and his existence can be defended. The case of Sipadan and Ligitan islands have to lesson in our attention, losing one island in state border can cause damage our territory. Karimun Kecil as island is one from eighteen small islands of Indonesian border in Province of Riau Kepulauan, which have insulate condition but very strategic, so that of course need optimalization of development by identify their nature resources, social economic condition and finally to formulate the management strategy. Remote sensing, GIS and SWOT in use on research method. Karimun Kecil island is the outermost island in Indonesia archipelago that have much potencies, such mangroves, sea sands, and the granite stones, especially the kurau (polynemus microstoma) fishing ground potencies. All thus potencies does carried out and used yet optimally. The site of base point position is 1°10"of N 103°23"19· E or 40 m from shore line in sea mapping at least, and from this base point used for directive of our sea territory settled with Malaysia country. The using of natural resources and environmental services in small karimun island does optimally yet, due to the space use confiict. The society culture of this island used to be traditional, and with the result that, the society awareness about environment is high. The supporting research of coastal and sea resources is needed and did not more till now days.
