      Abstract

The use of Black Soldier Fly compost has the potential to be an alternative to commercial compost that is commonly sold. This study examines the effect of applying BSF compost on the growth of kayu putih seedlings and its comparison with the growth of kayu putih seedlings fed with commercial compost. This study used a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 levels, namely M0 (pure soil), M1 (soil with commercial compost (9:1 by volume)), M2 (soil with BSF compost (9:1 by volume)), M3 (soil with commercial compost (4:1 by volume)), and M4 (soil with BSF compost (4:1 by volume)). The death of all kayu putih seedlings occurred at the M4 treatment level, which was thought to be due probably to cell plasmolysis. The results of the data analysis showed that different types of compost had a significant effect on the growth of kayu putih seedlings. BSF compost has the same effect as commercial compost on plants' number of leaves, diameter, and dry weight. In contrast, commercial compost gives better results on the height parameter, which is directly proportional to the sturdiness of the seedlings. BSF compost showed results that were not significantly different from commercial compost in the root shoot ratio parameter.
