      Abstract

Transportation activities will cause stress on chickens and will harm decreased body weight and mortality that will affect income. The level of stress felt by chickens is influenced by microenvironmental conditions during transportation. Stress in chickens can be identified by high body temperature, increased heart rate, the respiratory rate which is called a physiological response in chickens. This study was conducted to determine the effect of transportation on the physiological response of chickens. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with factorial pattern A(2) × B(2). Factor A treatment was transported and not transported. Factor B was observed before and after Factor A. The results showed that there was an interaction between treatments A and B on the observation of respiratory frequency and rectal temperature. In the observation of heart rate and body weight, there was no interaction between treatments A and B. There was a relatively low effect of temperature due-airflow flow during the transportation process at night at the increase in physiological response in the transported treatment was lower than in the non-transported treatment.
