      Abstract
Growth is the increase in size or weight of an animal. Animal growth is an increase in an animal's size or mass over its lifetime. The spectacled caiman has been poorly studied and the information of its basic life history. Growth rates and changes in growth with age and size are important life-history characteristics. This study aims to determine the growth rate of juvenile spectacled caimans in captivity as well as to understand the factors that affect growth rate in juvenile spectacled caimans. Fourteen juvenile spectacled caimans were used in this study. The study shows that the growth rate of the all the juvenile spectacled caimans varied where specimens such as Delta and 9th Dot had the highest growth rate in terms of weight at 0.98 g/day and 0.89g/day respectively while Little foot had the lowest growth rates in terms of both snout-vent length and weight parameter at a value of 0.03cm/day and 0.08cm/day. In this study it is observed that the growth rate of juvenile spectacled caimans can be affected by factors such as feed, Thiamine and Vitamin E deficiency, social behaviour, feeding behaviour, environment, stress and natural selection.
