Social carrying capacity describes the tolerance of society in responding to interactions that occur with a number of tourists, but the concept of carrying capacity is often studied through components of the physical environment even though humans as part of the social environment have a significant role in the sustainability of tourist areas. This study aims to identify people's perceptions and analyze the social carrying capacity of the people on Harapan Island. The methods used in this research include individual surveys of 100 people, interviews with tourism managers, field observations, and literature studies. Data analysis was carried out in a quantitative descriptive to describe public perceptions and used the irritation index model and thematic data analysis to determine the condition of social carrying capacity. The social carrying capacity of the community is in the dimension of euphoria towards apathy, or it can be concluded that the social carrying capacity of the community has not exceeded its limits. The community still shows a positive attitude towards tourists even though the contact that occurs with tourists is starting to be more formal and commercial.
