      Abstract

Health has an important role to assess the progress of a nation's development. In addition, health is also one part of maqashid sharia that needs to be maintained to run life. However, health problems still occur in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries as indicated by the low average life expectancy (AHH) and the high mortality rate by communicable diseases. This study aims to describe the general description and analyze the factors that influence health indicators in the OIC countries. The data used in this study are secondary data from 46 OIC countries in 2010-2018. The analysis method used is descriptive and inferential analysis through panel data regression. The estimation results in this study indicate that Gross Domestic Product (GDP), health expenditure, mean years of schooling and smoking behavior have a significant effect on AHH in OIC countries. The factors that have a significant effect on the mortality rate by communicable diseases in the OIC countries are the mean years of schooling and smoking behavior.
