      Abstract

Nematodosis is commonly found in non-human primate groups used for research. Gastrointestinal nematodosis in long-tailed monkeys used as animal models in biomedical research can affect research results. This study aims to identify the type, calculate the degree of infection and the prevalence of gastrointestinal nematodes in long-tailed monkeys in captivity at the Primate Animal Study Center, Institute for Research and Community Service of IPB (PSSP LPPM IPB). A total of 24 samples of long-tailed monkey feces were examined using the simple flotation method, McMaster and Kato-Katz. Nine (37.5%) of the 24 long-tailed monkeys were infected by trichurid (20.8%), ascarid (12.5%) and strongylid (4.2%%) with a mean infection degree of 833.3 ± 923, respectively. ,8 eggs per gram of feces (TTGT), 32 ± 27.7 TTGT and 12 ± 17 TTGT. The prevalence of namathodose based on age group and gender was 50% in infants, 50% young juveniles, 16.7% in juveniles, 33.3% in adults, 33.3% in males and 41.7% in females.
