      Sintesis dan Karakterisasi Geopolimer Berbasis Limbah Batu Bara dan Abu Semen yang Berpotensi Sebagai Media Tanam

      Abstract
      Limbah batu bara dan abu semen merupakan contoh limbah industri yang dapat menghasilkan pencemaran lingkungan dan menimbulkan kerusakan sumber daya alam serta dapat menurunkan kualitas hidup. Kandungan yang terdapat dalam limbah batu bara dan abu semen dapat dijadikan sebagai geopolimer, namun belum diketahui potensinya sebagai media tanam pada kemampuan porositasnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi potensi geopolimer limbah batu bara dan abu semen dalam kemampuannya mengabsorpsi air sebagai media tanam. Analisis dengan XRF (X-ray fluorescence spectrometry) didapatkan rasio Si/Al pada formulasi geopolimer sebesar 3,98 dan merupakan rasio yang optimal dalam geopolimer. Formulasi geopolimer dianalisis menggunakan FTIR. Hasilnya menunjukkan adanya serapan gugus O-H mengindikasikan bahwa geopolimer mampu menyerap air. Hasil mikrograf SEM menunjukkan bahwa geopolimer memiliki permukaan diameter pori yang kecil dan jumlah pori yang menyebar. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa geopolimer memiliki porositas yang baik sebagai media tanam.
       
      Coal waste and cement ash are examples of industrial waste that can produce environmental pollution, cause damage to natural resources, and reduce the quality of life. The coal waste and cement ash content can be used as a geopolymer, but their potential as a medium for planting and their porosity is not yet known. This study aims to identify the potential of coal waste and cement ash geopolymer in their ability to absorb water as a growing medium. Analysis by XRF (X-ray fluorescence spectrometry) obtained the ratio of Si/Al in geopolymer formulations of 3,98, which is the optimal ratio in geopolymers. Geopolymer formulations were analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the absorption of O-H groups indicated that the geopolymer was able to absorb water. The results of the SEM microcgraphs show that the geopolymer has a surface with a small pore diameter and a diffuse number of pores. This shows that the geopolymer has good porosity as a growing medium.
