Laju pertumbuhan ekspor kopi Indonesia di pasar internasional cenderung fluktuatif, namun tren pertumbuhan ekspor kopi Indonesia menunjukkan kecenderungan meningkat meskipun relatif kecil.
The growth rate of Indonesia's coffee exports in the international market tends to fluctuate, but the growth trend of Indonesian coffee exports shows an increasing trend although it is relatively small. Meanwhile, world coffee demand tends to increase with positive growth every year in line with the increasing number of world population. The trend of relatively small export growth is thought to put pressure on Indonesia's coffee trade in competing with other exporting countries. This situation is a challenge for Indonesian coffee export trade in fighting for its market share in the international market.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee in the international market, analyze the factors that influence the trade flow of Indonesian coffee exports in the international market, and analyze the potential of the export destination country's market. This study uses secondary data in the form of time series (2006-2020), and secondary data in the form of cross sections, namely data on the Indonesian coffee trade with 10 export destination countries. The object of this research is coffee with HS code 090111. The research methods used are Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Export Product Dynamic (EPD), X-Model Potential Export, Diamond's Porter, Gravity Model and Trade Potential Ratio. The dependent variable used is the volume of Indonesian coffee exports in the destination country. Indonesia's real GDP per capita, real GDP per capita of the destination country, economic distance, the rupiah exchange rate against the currency of the destination country, the population of the destination country, Indonesia's RCA Index in the destination country, SPS coverage ratio, and TBT coverage ratio are independent variables in this study.
The results show that Indonesian coffee has competitiveness in the international market. The competitiveness of Indonesian coffee tends to increase in the Russian F market, Belgium, Germany, India, Egypt, Italy, United Kingdom, Malaysia and the United States. Meanwhile, the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee in the Japanese market has declined or is in a retreat position. The development of the Indonesian coffee export market is still optimistic and has potential in the Russian F market, Belgium, Germany, India, Egypt, Italy, UK, Malaysia, and the United States. The factors that significantly affect the flow of Indonesia's coffee export trade are the real GDP of the destination country, the economic distance, the exchange rate and Indonesia's RCA Index to the destination country. All of these variables have coefficient signs that are in accordance with the research hypothesis. While the variables that have no significant effect are the real GDP of Indonesia, the population of the destination country, the SPS coverage ratio and the TBT coverage ratio. In the future, Indonesia still has the potential to expand the coffee trade to all trading partner countries. The countries with the most potential for Indonesia to expand the coffee trade are Russian F, Japan and Belgium.
Based on the research results, Indonesia should be able to maintain and improve competitiveness in the international market, because competitiveness is one of the biggest factors affecting Indonesian coffee exports in the international market and Indonesia can give greater priority to coffee exports to the Russian Federation market. The potential for Indonesian coffee trade to the Russian F market is higher than other export destination countries.
