      Sintesis Zeolit Termodifikasi Cu/Ag sebagai Material Antibakteri

      Abstract
      Penelitian ini bertujuan menyintesis zeolit termodifikasi Cu/Ag dan menguji aktivitas antibakterinya pada bakteri Escherichia coli. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel zeolit komersial, zeolit A hasil sintetik, dan zeolit X hasil sintetik. Zeolit dimodifikasi dengan mengadsorpsikan larutan berisi ion tembaga dan perak dengan berbagai nisbah. Nisbah tembaga dan perak yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Cu:Ag 5:0, 4:1, 2,5:2,5, 1:4, dan 0:5. Hasil modifikasi zeolit tersebut kemudian diberi perlakuan pemanasan dan diuji aktivitas antibakterinya kecuali untuk nisbah Cu:Ag 4:1. Pengujian antibakteri dilakukan terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli dengan metode difusi cawan. Hasil pengujian aktivitas antibakteri ditunjukkan dengan zona hambat yang dapat diukur menggunakan jangka sorong. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas antibakteri terbaik dimiliki oleh zeolit A yang dimodifikasi dengan nisbah Cu:Ag 2,5:2,5 dan diberi perlakuan pemanasan serta serbuk zeolit komersial dengan nisbah Cu:Ag 4:1 yang diberi dan tanpa perlakuan pemanasan.       This study used samples of commercial zeolite, synthetic zeolite A, and synthetic zeolite X. Zeolites were modified by adsorption of solutions containing copper and silver ions in various ratios. The ratio of copper and silver used in this study was Cu:Ag 5:0, 4:1, 2,5:2,5, 1:4, and 0:5. The modified zeolite was then heated and tested for its antibacterial activity except for the Cu:Ag ratio of 4:1. Antibacterial testing was carried out on Escherichia coli bacteria using the cup diffusion method. The results of the antibacterial activity test were indicated by the zone of inhibition which could be measured using a caliper. The results of this study indicate that the best antibacterial activity was possessed by zeolite A modified with Cu:Ag ratio of 2.5:2.5 and treated with heating and commercial zeolite powder with Cu:Ag ratio of 4:1 given and without heating treatment.
