Abstract

Sheep is the one of many leather product. Mostly, leather of sheep have size more small and thin than cow and buffalo. Leather of cow and buffalo can make the leather light. The observation consists of experiment using six sheets of sheep leather, respectively. The observation design used on experiment has Direct Randomized Complete Design with three repeatations. Variable analysis of experiment consists of tensile strength and elongation of leather, and torn strength. The experiment result showed that tensile strength value of chrome tanned leather of Javanese fat-tailed and local Javanese thin-tailed not clear different were respectively 42.86 ± 2,12 kg/cm3 ; 38.56 ± 2,16 kg/cm3. The elongation value of chrome tanned leather of Javanese fat-tailed and local Javanese thin-tailed not clear different were respectively 99.25 ± 36,59 % ; 104.03 ± 21,71 %, whereas the torn strength given were respectively 3.57 ± 0.9194 kg/cm3 ; 3.475 ± 0.2947 kg/cm3. The tensile strength, elongation, and torn strength value of chrome tanned leather of Javanese fat-tailed were not clear different than leather of local Javanese thin-tailed.
