Katuk plant leaves (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr) as a drug or feed
additive (feed additive) can increase livestock production and milk secretion in
both humans and animals. It is known that the katuk plant has other parts that can
be utilized and processed to make katuk pellet flour, namely the soft stem. The
soft stem portion can be proportionately as raw material for leaf replacement in
the process of producing feed additive pellets for livestock. This research aims
toknowing the utilization of soft stems as raw material for depolarizing katuk
pellets and the palatability of katuk for sheep and beef cattle. The study used 8
sheep, 12 cows for palatability testing and used 18 kg of katuk plants. The results
showed that the length of soft stems harvested in the first period was not
significantly different (p>0,05) from the second period, but leaf weight and soft
stem length were significantly different from those of the second period (p<0,05).
The first harvest period resulted in higher leaf and soft stem weights than the
second period harvest. The results of the palatability test on sheep showed that
both D pellets and DBL pellets were equally favored by sheep. The palatability
test of pellets and katuk powder on cattle showed a significant difference
(p<0,05), cattle preferred katuk in the form of pellets compared to powder.
